Veteran aerobatic pilot Larry
Bashore of Chapter 58 scored well enough in the recent Acroblast
Contest in Cape May, NJ to earn a 2nd place in the Intermediate Class
against 11 other competitors. It was neck and neck through all 3 rounds
of the competition with Larry earning a 1st place in his Free to push
him into the overall 2nd position. Karen Greenfield, also a chapter 58
member, earned a 2nd place in Sportsman Class with Bob McAndrew and
chapter member in training Marc Reichen taking the 7th and 8th places.
A fine representation of chapter members in the competition was aided
by the great representation of other members taking partin the event.
Contest Director Craig Wisman organized a great competition that netted
32 competitors and managed to accomplish the completion of all 5
categories including the 4 minute free for Unlimited. The finale with
smoke and music made the conclusion of the contest one to remember.
Dbbie Wisman as Chief Registrar had everything in perfect order for a
smooth running contest. She was assisted by a great group of women
including chapter member Priss Bashore. Our own Chapter President Keith
Doyne served double duty as Tech inspector and Starter and Ray Harris
learned the ropes of Volunteer Coordinator. JD Johnson tried to
initiate a new member by bringing his daughter to see what all the fun
is about while Harold Klick served on the line as a judge. All in all
it was a great showing for chapter 58 members and families. Larry won
the contest for the most family members (9) attending to cheer him on.
But other families enjoyed the special perc of free admittance to the
rides on Morey’s piers. This is a great contest with a great
venue, FBO, runway and so far great weather. If you’re planning
for a vacation at the shore next year plan on making it near the Cape
May airport and join in on the fun.
